Buying a farmhouse near Lahore or Islamabad: a checklist

Road access, water, land records, boundary and approvals — what to check before you buy a farmhouse.

By Wakeel Mayo · 28 September 2026

A farmhouse is a lifestyle purchase and an investment. Because many farmhouses sit on agricultural land outside society limits, a little extra checking protects you.

Before you pay a token

  1. Land record: check the fard and the registry/intiqal so the seller's name and area match.
  2. Demarcation: get the boundary measured by the patwari so the wall matches the record.
  3. Access: confirm a legal, metalled road to the gate.
  4. Water: check the bore depth and water quality.
  5. Electricity: confirm the connection and its load.
  6. Society rules: inside a gated farmhouse scheme, check the transfer process and any bylaws.

Running costs
